Ask whether it has ever been right
A cabinet that has never quite held temperature and one that was fine until last month are two different investigations. The first one is usually about the cabinetry it sits in.

Look at the air first
These breathe through the toe kick. A unit fitted with the grille blocked, a solid panel across the front, or no gap at the back will run permanently and still lose — and no part will fix that.

Clean and test the condenser side
Condenser and its fan, in a cabinet that is already tight for air. In an outdoor kitchen or a bar run this is most of the visit.

Then the zone
On a two-zone cabinet, one zone wrong points at that zone's damper, fan or sensor — because a cooling failure takes both zones together.

Small cabinet, narrow band
A wine cellar has to hold a few degrees of range behind a glass door, in a room that is warmer than a refrigerator ever sees, often in a cabinet with very little air. That is a demanding job in Miami, and it is why airflow is the first thing we look at rather than the last.
What actually goes wrong
- Airflow at the toe kick, most often designed out by a cabinetmaker.
- The condenser and its fan, in a cabinet that is already tight for air.
- Thermistors and the control, which is a cabinet that reads right and behaves wrong.
- The zone damper or fan, on a dual-zone cabinet where one half is fine.
- The sealed system, last and least often, and worth reaching by elimination on a cabinet this size.
Where these get installed here
Islands, bar runs, garages and covered terraces. What is inside one of these cabinets is usually worth more than the repair, which is the honest argument for calling early — a cabinet drifting warm for a month is a different loss from a cabinet that stopped overnight.

It is under my counter and it has never really been cold enough.
Then the answer is probably in front of the appliance rather than inside it. These cabinets breathe through the toe kick, and a cabinetmaker who fitted a solid panel across the front or closed the gap behind has taken away the air the compressor needs. It is worth diagnosing before parts are ordered.
What is the difference between a wine cellar and a beverage center?
The temperature range and the shelving. A wine cellar holds a cellar band and is racked for bottles lying down; a beverage center runs colder for cans and mixers with flat shelves. They are built on the same platform and repaired the same way, but a beverage center asked to hold wine temperature is being asked the wrong question.
Mine is on a covered terrace and struggles every summer.
That is a hard place to be a small refrigeration unit, and it is worth saying when you book. An outdoor kitchen in July asks more of a 15-inch cabinet than any kitchen does, and the fixes there are as much about airflow and shade as about parts.
