Repair cost

KitchenAid appliance installation cost

Where a meaningful share of the repairs on this site are either prevented or created. A dishwasher that never drained from the day it went in was not a repair waiting to happen — it was an installation.

  • From $95 diagnostic, credited to the repair
  • 59 cities and neighborhoods covered
  • OEM parts available on order

What moves it

Why two of the same job cost different amounts

These apply at the same time and in both directions. Which of them is true of your kitchen is what the on-site diagnostic settles.

  • Freestanding, or built in

A range that rolls into a gap and a wall oven that goes into a tall cabinet opening are different appointments. A built-in refrigerator trimmed into millwork and a fully integrated dishwasher carrying your own panel are different again, because the appliance has to end up flush and level with somebody else's cabinetry.

  • What is already there

An opening cut for a different appliance, a water line with no shut-off, a dryer duct that runs too far or turns too often, a circuit that is not what the new appliance needs. Those are found on the day unless somebody looks first, which is why we ask before rather than after.

  • Whether anything has to come out

Removing and disposing of the old appliance is part of some of these jobs and not others, and on a stacked laundry pair or a built-in column it is a significant share of the time.

What we actually do

The job behind the figure: what it involves, when a symptom points at it, and what we check first.

  • An appliance opening between two runs of pale cabinetry, a tape measure stretched across it and a hand steadying the end.

    Appliance installation

Fitting a replacement into an opening that was built for something else — levelling, water, drainage, ventilation and the panel front. Most of what goes wrong in the first year of a new appliance is decided on the day it goes in.

    • Levelled, sealed and connected, not just pushed into the gap
    • Water, drain and ventilation checked rather than assumed
    • The old appliance disconnected safely

About KitchenAid appliance installation cost

The four installation problems this site is built out of

  • The disposal knock-out plug, left in place when a dishwasher was connected to a disposal after the fact. The commonest reason a brand-new dishwasher will not empty, and it is not a repair.
  • A drain hose with no high loop, which siphons and lets dirty water back into the tub.
  • A dryer duct that is too long, crushed behind the machine, or full of turns. This produces long dry times, a machine running hotter than it should, and thermal fuses that keep opening. It is also the safety one.
  • A wall oven set into an opening cut for a different appliance, which never quite closes square and takes its door and latch with it eventually.

Why an installation page belongs on a repair site

Because a good share of the calls on this site are the consequence of one, and it is more useful to say so than to quietly bill for the repair later. A machine that has never worked properly since the day it went in usually has an installation problem rather than a manufacturing one, and that is worth establishing before anybody opens it.

What is included

Leveled, connected, sealed where it needs sealing, secured where it needs securing, and then run through a full cycle with somebody watching. An installation that has not been proved under water, heat or airflow is not finished, and half of the problems above are only visible on that first real cycle.

What the figure is

A starting point and a researched market range for South Florida rather than a quote for your job. The exact cost is confirmed after the appliance and the opening have been seen, and agreed in writing before anything begins.

Questions about KitchenAid appliance installation cost

My new dishwasher will not drain.

Check the disposal knock-out plug before anything else. If the dishwasher was connected to a disposal that was already installed, the plug inside the inlet may still be in place and the water has nowhere to go. It is the single commonest cause of this and it is an installation step rather than a repair.

Can you install an appliance I bought elsewhere?

Yes. What matters is the opening, the supply and the duct rather than where the box came from. Send us the model number and a photograph of the space and we will tell you what it needs before the day.

Do you take the old one away?

It can be part of the job. Say so when you book, because on a built-in or a stacked laundry pair it is a real share of the time rather than a five-minute extra.

Why does the duct run matter so much?

Because a dryer that cannot get its air out runs hot, takes several cycles, and opens its thermal fuse repeatedly. Getting the run right at installation is the cheapest repair on this entire site, and it is also the safest.

Tell us the model number and what it is doing.
