Do not help it up by hand
The gearing is what holds the carriage, and forcing it is how a slow downdraft becomes a stuck one. If it is part way up, leave it there and book the visit.

Clean and test the track
Grease on the track is the commonest reason one of these binds, and it is a cleaning job rather than a part. A carriage that moves freely by design should not need persuading.

Separate the lift from the extraction
A downdraft that rises and does not pull is a blower, a damper or ducting. One that pulls and will not rise is the lift motor or its switch. Two different repairs on one appliance.
