# KitchenAid diagnostic visit cost

### What the fee buys, and what it does not

Time, travel, measurement, and a named cause with a figure against it in writing. What it does not buy is a number invented before anybody has seen the appliance. A price given over the phone is either padded to cover the worst case or too low to honor when the panel comes off, and both of those cost you more than $95.

### Where the figure comes from

Service call and diagnostic fees across South Florida sit in a researched market range of about $59 to $129, and many companies credit them toward the work. Ours starts at $95 and is credited. That is a starting figure and a market range rather than a quote for your appointment — the exact cost is confirmed after the on-site diagnostic.

### The cheapest possible outcome

Quite often it is this one: the visit and nothing else. A tub filter, a disposal knock-out plug, a hood filter, a crushed dryer duct, a clock that was never set after an outage, an Energy Saver setting in August. Those end at the visit fee and you are told plainly what happened and how to stop it happening again.

What moves this figure

Researched market range for South Florida: service calls $59–$129

Credited toward the repair when you go ahead

A second appliance on the same visit costs less than a second visit

It does not vary by appliance

A range at floor level and a wall oven in a tall housing are the same fee, because what you are paying for is the trip, the hour and a named cause rather than the badge on the door.

How many appliances we look at

This is the widest line on the fleet and plenty of these kitchens are furnished throughout with it. A second and third appliance seen on the same visit are far cheaper than two more visits — say so when you book rather than when we arrive.

How much the appliance will tell us

An appliance still showing its code shortens the visit. One that has been cleared, unplugged or cycled at the breaker since it stopped has erased the only evidence it produced, and the visit takes longer to reach the same place.

### Why is there a fee at all?

Because the visit, the measurement and the written scope happen whether or not you go ahead. When you do go ahead, it comes off the bill, so on a job we carry out it is not a separate line at all.

### Can you give me a number over the phone instead?

We can narrow it, and we will. With the model number and a description you will get the likely causes and the range they sit in. What we cannot do honestly is name the figure, because the same symptom has several ordinary causes hundreds of dollars apart and only the appliance settles which one is yours.

### Do I pay it twice if the same problem comes back?

No. If the repair we carried out does not hold, we come back on our own workmanship warranty and there is no second diagnostic.

### Is it more for a built-in appliance?

Not the diagnostic. Access changes what the repair costs, not what it costs to work out what is wrong.
